Dick
Wolf Retires
On October 28, 2005, Dick
Wolf retired after nearly forty years in the mechanical rubber
goods business, 17 ½ of them with Beaver Manufacturing Company.
A native of Pennsylvania, he graduated from Kings College in Wilkes
Barre with a B.S. in Chemistry.
Dick began his career as a Chemist with Dupont in Waynesboro,
Virginia. After being drafted for a tour of duty in the Army, he
went to work for Uniroyal, Inc. in Winnsboro, S.C. A variety
of assignments in R&D ranging from laboratory benchwork, tire
cord development, and process improvement evolved into a career
in the hose yarn reinforcement business.
In March of 1988 he joined the Beaver team as Technical and Quality
Manager. One of his first major projects was the environmental
side of our business. He was a key player in elimination
of solvent based treatments, and implementing a smooth transition
to the type of treatments we now use.
Dick put a solid quality system in place. In 1997 he was
responsible for Beaver becoming fully certified to the ISO-9000
international quality standards.
Over the years, Dick has not only gained the confidence of his
peers but customers, suppliers, and machine manufacturers as well. He
has gained a knowledge of the hosemaking process unparalleled in
our industry. When customers have process problems, Dick
has been there to troubleshoot for them. He is a stickler
to detail. All of this has led to him being one of the most
respected persons in the hosemaking business.
As an era and a distinguished career comes to an end, we wish
Dick all the best for a very happy retirement. |
